How to Treat Wool with an Anti-Static Agent
In general, anti-static agents may be applied to wool in the oiling application(card oil) as an additive as well as down the line as a last rinse treatment after dyeing. However, they are usually applied as a spray treatment prior to napping, shearing, or decating. Orco Antistat TRI-275-S™, applicable to wool, is a nonionic anti-static agent designed for use on synthetics, woolens and cellulosic fibers and their respective blends.
- Has exceptionally low color and is non-yellowing.
- Contains no mineral oil or alcohol
- Compatible with most lubricants
- Removal is easy, requiring warm water and a suitable nonionic detergent such as Orconol CHSA Conc™ at the rate of 0.25-0.50% owg.
Orco Antistat TRI-275-S™ is generally used in the last rinse just before extracting(no rinse) and is also used in spray and continuous pad/dry operations.
Last rinse application use 0.5-2.0% owg
Spray application use 0.25-1.0 oz/gal
Continuous application use 0.5-2.0 oz/gal with 45-60% wet pickup
Cationic softeners such as Orcosoft NQ 320-S™ act somewhat as an anti-static agent and in these cases, additional anti-static agent treatment may not be needed.
